When I started at Simons Bitzer, Accelerate, formerly Spectrum Technology, was our technology provider and trusted adviser, but we limited our engagement to save a few dollars and instead tried to handle technology issues ourselves

This meant: I had to do it.

I vividly remember the moment that changed our engagement with Accelerate.

I was fumbling my way through installing some 1099 tax software when I ran into a serious emergency (otherwise known as: I really messed things up). I was totally panicked and didn’t know what to do. The only resource I could think of was Accelerate, so I called them for help. They instinctively knew what to do and resolved my issue in minutes.

After they got me out of that mess, I thought to myself, “Why on earth was I trying to do this myself anyway?”

I knew at that moment we had to shift our thinking from cost-focused to value-focused and leverage Accelerate strategically.

Using Technology for Simon Bitzer’s Growth

Today, we are a fully managed Accelerate client. If we have a problem, first we reboot (hey, that works sometimes). If that doesn’t fix it, we call or email Accelerate to open a support ticket – and that’s it.

Before becoming a managed client with Accelerate, I was mostly consumed with administrative tasks and fixing technology problems. Now, with Accelerate handling 100 percent of our technology needs, I manage the human resource area of Simon Bitzer. I’m responsible for recruiting and training of new employees as well as managing human resource requirements with our seasoned team members. There’s no way I could be doing this if I was still struggling with software upgrades and setting up laptops.

For years, we bounced between Terminal Server and dedicated desktops for remote access, but neither solution was great for us. We had been thinking about the cloud, but, to be honest, we didn’t really understand the technology or the security implications for our customers’ data.

Accelerate took the lead in helping us to truly understand the pros and cons of cloud and the impact on our business and customers.

Today, our firm flourishes with:

  • Office 365 for email and collaboration
  • Reliable access to multiple versions of QuickBooks
