Success Story - Center for Practical Bioethics
For twenty years, the Center for Practical Bioethics www.practicalbioethics.org has provided objective, expert, and trustworthy counsel on healthcare decision making, and creating a morally safe place in which to raise and respond to complex ethical issues affecting the nation's health and healthcare.
Versent, a.k.a. “the purple guys,” were called in about a year ago when The Center for Practical Bioethics was infected with a significant virus. John Toren, the organization’s chief operating officer, was unhappy with the computer expert they had been using for their computer support. With 15 employees looking at him, he decided to call on Versent to fix the problems.
Toren said he chose the company that carries the motto “we keep computers up and running,” for several reasons.
“We liked their depth of experience,” Toren said. “We also liked the fact that they priced themselves competitively, especially for not for profit agencies like us. Versent has been a good partner for us over this past year.”
Toren said he feels perfectly comfortable calling Versent when computer problems arise. In fact, according to Toren, his questions are answered immediately through Versent’s help desk hotline. Versent supports Toren’s 15 employees’ computers using VersentCheck, a 24-step maintenance process that keeps systems safe, secure and stable.
In addition to the hotline, Toren said he’s received invaluable advice from Versent President Jon Schram about which pre-packaged software to purchase.
“It is that attention to detail, working the extra hours when needed and know-how that has all added up to a good experience with Versent,” he said. “We intend to use their other capabilities like web development in the future.”
He said that Versent employees even worked extra hours to help the agency move to another location in downtown Kansas City.
